The store owned by businessman Ian Eisenberg will be located in Central District and next to heavy populated Capitol Hill. The recreational marijuana outlet will be called Uncle Ike’s Pot Shop. Adjacent to the shop on the same lot will be Uncle Ike’s Glass and Goods. This shop will not carry cannabis, but will sell bongs, pipes, vaporizers, rolling papers, grinders, and other paraphernalia.

The First of 2 recreational marijuana shops in ‘Tiny Amsterdam?’

The name ‘Little Amsterdam’ was first coined by local site CapitolHillSeattle.com for the area where Uncle Ike’s Pot Shop will do business. This was before the WSLCB published the recreational retail marijuana shop lottery rankings when there were several hopeful entries. Since the published lottery results, only one retail weed shop was given a ranking for a potential license: Mello Times, soon to be located in the area at 1410 24th Ave. With the addition of Uncle Ike’s Pot Shop, the area will now have 2 recreational weed shops. Not exactly a ‘Little Amsterdam,’ but maybe a ‘Tiny Amsterdam?’

Location, Location, Location: Capitol Hill & Central District

The news of Uncle Ike’s Pot Shop opening in Central District is great news for locals who wish to purchase cannabis, especially in the nearby densely populated neighborhood of Capitol Hill. Although, there will be weed connoisseurs coming from all areas around Seattle and outside the city, mainly by car (or how about a group outing via the  locally famous Weed Bus?) the immediate areas of Capitol Hill and Central District offer walkable routes. Of course, for residents of Capitol Hill, it would be most convenient to have a recreational cannabis store off of Broadway or Pike & Pine Corridor, the location of Uncle Ike’s Pot Shop will have to do.

How ‘Uncle Ike’s Glass & Goods’ is Brilliant Business

Speaking of Mr. Eisenberg and his portfolio of success, how about the opening of not just Uncle Ike’s Pot Shop, but the grand opening of Uncle Ike’s Glass and Goods as well? In a building on the same lot, close to the pot shop, will be store which sells marijuana paraphernalia such as pipes, bongs, and vaporizers.

We think this is a brilliant business move! While it’s against WSLCB regulation to openly advertise that you are a recreational marijuana retail store on your storefront, why not advertise on your second store that you are a “glass shop.” Any customers who drive by and stop to purchase pot paraphernalia will be tickled to find out that they can purchase cannabis just next door.

Did You Know?

The grand opening of Uncle Ike’s Pot Shop comes as a bit of a surprise. We were in touch with Ian Eisenberg before the initial recreational marijuana license lottery rankings were published by the Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB). According to Eisenberg, ‘he wasn’t even close in the rankings’ to receive a potential recreational marijuana license. It looks like Mr. Eisenberg formed a partnership with a lottery winner to fulfill his dream of opening a legal marijuana store.
