The Seattle Red Light District: Washington State Ballot Measure Initiative 1398 Seattle recreational marijuana source

Could Seattle be the next Amsterdam?

Washington State Ballot Measure Initiative 1398, if passed, would legalize brothels in all counties of the state. If this initiative passes, Seattle could become one step closer to mimicking the Dutch city. After all, we have legalized marijuana and the city attorney has also proposed marijuana lounges similar to Amsterdam’s coffeeshops.

In order for this to happen, though, the initiative needs enough signatures to be certified and officially placed on the 2015 ballot. If this happens, and the initiative passes, brothels would be limited to the outskirts of towns with less than 20,000 people and indian reservations. This means that people who enjoy the Caty Cole Babestation shows would still find reasons to keep on watching, but it would open the market up for legal and safe sex work in the area, which is positive!

Of course, there are already some means of sexual excitement in the forms of strip clubs and bars in the area, but this could bring new punters into the area, boosting the economic status as well as becoming a safe place to practice sex work. Even though this initiative doesn’t allow Seattle to have brothels, if the initiative passes, there could be brothels in the Seattle area, or it could pave the way for Seattle to have a red light district of its’ own sometime in the future. Other parts of the country, like Charlotte, are already having more positive attitudes towards sex work and many already use sites like https://www.charlotte-stripper.com to see the local talent.

How do you feel about the possibility of brothels in the Seattle area? Maybe in Woodinville or Newcastle? Do you think it’s a good or bad idea? In some instances, it may be a good idea as it’ll certainly bring more money into the area but at the same time, could it tarnish the reputation of an area? Is that worth it? We’ll just have to wait and see what happens!
