This week we have a review from one of our usual producers. The nug at hand is Training Day, and it’s a strain produced by Liberty Reach.
Liberty Reach is a Washington based producer (out of Raymond). We’ve reviewed various consumables from them, ranging from flowers to juju joints. They have time after time created top notch products and Training Day is no exception.
First, a little about the producer. Liberty Reach has three major fundamentals: freedom, balance and well-being. According to their website, “it’s up to us as individuals to decide what we value, what we stand for; to choose our own path”. It’s all a little nonspecific, but that works for me.
The freedom to create high end marijuana. The balance between sativa and indica. The well-being from consuming it of which some decide to buy sativa online and enjoy it very much! That’s my take on their philosophy, and I’m sticking to it!
Let’s take a closer look at the specifics:
70% Trainwreck Indica
30% LA Confidential Sativa
Strain: Training Day
Species: Hybrid (+Indica/-Sativa)
Smell: Spice + Chocolate + Slight Lemon
Taste: Earthiness + funk
Launch Point: 10 minutes after smoking

Training Day is a dense nug, sporting delicate red hairs across it’s terrain. I sampled it both from a standard pipe, and vaporizer – the strain burnt well in both instances. The smoke is plentiful, and smooth.
One of the best things about getting to write these reviews is simply enjoying the little things. Popping open a bag, taking a big whiff, and just trying to visualize what I smell in the nug is a humbling profession to be compensated for. Training Day has a wonderful, exotic smell that harkens to the deepest chocolate and the fruitiest lemon – it’s truly luxurious.
Not much of the smell follows through with the taste, but there’s nothing wrong with that. A smokey, earthiness is persistent when smoking through a bowl, though it seems the depth of flavor opens up when using a vaporizer; yielding a floral lemony brightness.
Getting high with Training Day is a lot like that scene from the movie where Denzel fools Ethan Hawke into smoking a PCP laced joint. Hawke starts tripping, and Denzel is all “I didn’t know you liked to get wet, though”. Everything then starts fading to blue, time distorts, and Hawke is rendered into something akin to an inebriated jellyfish.

I’m guessing they had this scene in mind when naming the potent weed, or at least one would hope.
This strain is incredibly introspective, don’t expect to become a social butterfly while under Training Day’s haze. Excellent for watching movies, being creative, getting projects done (up until the burnout/couch-lock hits).
It is a hybrid strain, similar to the OG Shark strain (https://www.ganjaexpress.to/product/og-shark/) but is indica dominant. An indica dominant herb should be deep and heady, and this nug strongly lives up to its title. Liberty Reach has again crafted a distinctive, potent product and we truly thank them consistently delivering strains that we love to review.
