Solstice Skunk Berry Marijuana review Seattle recreational marijuana source

Here we are again, another strain from one of my new favorite Washington marijuana producers.  This week I’ve got an indica from Solstice called Skunkberry, let’s dive on in.

We reviewed Solstice’s Alaskan Thunder Fuck a few weeks ago, it was a stellar sativa with an interesting history.  I wanted to get the full scope of the producer’s bud, so it only felt fitting to grab an indica (or two, for review purposes of course).

The Seattle-area based producer are environmentally conscious, applying low impact methods across the board.  Their website consists of a mission statement with 6 separate pillars (or “tenets”), but as a whole they represent progress in the cannabis industry.

On a micro scale, the reason Solstice’s product has become my new “go-to” is because of it’s quality at a decent price.  $36 for 3.5 grams is not bad at all for recreational, and if you need further convincing on the bud itself – take a gander at the photos below.

The Specifics:

THC: 18.3% CBD: 0.6%

Total: 22.9%

Strain: Skunkberry
Species: Hybrid (Indica Dominant)
Harvested: 10/28/15
Smell: Pine Pitch + Skunk
Taste: Lavender + Berry + Spice
Launch Point: 3-5 minutes after smoking
High: Spacey + Euphoric + Body High + Creative

The lovechild of Skunk #1 and Blueberry, Skunkberry is one of the most praised hybrid strains in the history of weed.  Credited for it’s sativa like tendencies, this potent indica is known for it’s slow-burning high – lasting longer then most other buds.

I like that the container feels delicate and homemade (it’s also recyclable!).  Skunkberry is absolutely frosted in trichomes.  A few leaves are present but that doesn’t bother me, though it’s worth pointing out all the same.  The color a fresh green, the buds are sticky with bright orange hairs.

Cracking open a nug, Skunkberry smells like lemon-pine pitch (with a pinch of skunk, obviously).  Using a vaporizer, the taste was somewhat floral with notes of lavender-berry and spice (all in the nose of the beholder).  Smoking out of a pipe, there wasn’t any discernible taste other than smoke.

The high is intense, coming on slow but exponentially growing stronger per minute.  I’d recommend this strain for night-time use, as it does carry a burnout burden.  For the time that you are stoned though, life is carefree and euphoric.

Skunkberry has a solid balance of CBD to THC.  The body vibes are present as a back-current to the outlandish head high.  Definitely a heavy hitting strain, one for the veteran smoker.
