Berries and marijuana, it really is a time honored union. You’ve got your Blueberry, you’ve got your Strawberry Cough, your Raspberry Kush. Marionberry Kush was a new strain for me, and truly is a product of the Northwest – in both potency, and tastiness.
We got the Marionberry Kush from Dockside Cannabis, a solid pot shop located just south of downtown Seattle. The budtender I talked to highly recommended the strain we are reviewing (thank you Jordan, it was superb). The staff was courteous, and the store was having a special 12% discount on account of it being a Seahawks game day.
Emerald Jane’s is a grower we’ve been hearing a lot about. “They’re so hot right now”, an anonymous source remarked. The Washington based producer is known for their excessively excellent quality, which they achieve through using multiple methods of curing and cultivating. “Every plant, every day” – they grow in small batches, and give special care to all facets of the process.
The packaging is shiny, yet rustic. As you can see in the photos, it catches the sun brilliantly; giving the marijuana inside a spotlight. I really don’t talk about packaging anymore, unless it stands out – and I admire Emerald Jane’s simplicity.
Now it’s time for the strain review, and the specifics:
THC-A: 15.40% THC-D9: 0.46% CBD: 0.07%
Total THC: 17.88%
Strain: Marionberry Kush
Species: Hybrid (Raspberry Kush x Space Queen)
Smell: Funky + Fresh + Citrus
Taste: Grapefruit + Grass
Launch Point: 3-4 minutes after smoking
High: Subtle + Fresh + Airy + Crisp + Gooood mornin’
Popping open the package, the buds greet you with a fruity hello. The nugs are what you want your weed to look like: crisp, multicolored, and absolutely frosted.
The smell is lovely, a combo citrus and berry hit you immediately – followed by the usual skunk and circumstance. I’m not quite sure if I get marionberry in the fragrance, but regardless the funk is pungent. Smoking out of a vaporizer, the flavor was noticeably grassy, with a sour grapefruit-esque finish.

Getting high with Marionberry Kush is an uplifting experience. There is a peppy head high, accompanied by some relaxing body vibes. Sometimes, you don’t need a straight Indica or Sativa… you need a hybrid. A mutant amalgamation of varying traits and nuances that no singular species can achieve.
Yes, this strain can fit into whatever you’re using it for. A crisp morning smoke, an active midday session, a heady nighttime blitz – it all works, the pieces fit together. It’s nice to have a form fitting herb, something to accompany any situation.
This weed was seriously outstanding, the hype was real. Take a look at Emerald Jane’s website for the list of shops featuring their high quality product, and get some for yourself.
