Issaquah’s first recreational marijuana shop opened its doors on Friday, January 30th, over two years after marijuana became legal for recreational use in Washington State. Issaquah Cannabis Company is officially one of the first 100 recreational shops to open in the state, and has been pursuing the legal process in preparation since legalization surfaced. The recreational marijuana store serves an underrepresented community, offering cannabis to people who before had to travel 20 miles or more to acquire it. Issaquah Cannabis Company received little resistance from the Issaquah community when preparing for business. The shop is quickly and effectively becoming a valued asset to the city.
Overcoming Obstacles
Opening a recreational marijuana shop in Washington can be challenging, particularly because of zoning rules and regulations. Recreational shops are not allowed within 1,000 feet of a school, a state-licensed daycare or a public park. Shops must adhere to these rules, yet still find a location that is accessible to the community and in a heavily-trafficked area of town. For smaller communities these obstacles can prove daunting. However, Issaquah’s new marijuana team put any concerns at ease, abiding by all rules without hiccup. Issaquah Cannabis Company is enamored to be a part of the Issaquah community, and has felt this joy from planning to execution. Any obstacles (none too severe) set before the owners and managers have been gracefully overcome.
More Recreational Shops, Please!
Reach Island LLC, the licensee for ICC, is planning to open a shop in West Seattle in April to better serve the expansive Seattle area. However, this is currently the only future project for Reach Island LLC. This is not to say that ICC does not offer service worthy of commuting to. In fact, the Issaquah branch strives to provide exceptional customer service and products to its immediate and outlying communities. With competitive price points and diverse products, Issaquah Cannabis Company is a very big deal for the recreational industry of Washington.
Flowers, Edibles and Concentrates, Oh My
Don’t let the “new store” stamp fool you; Issaquah Cannabis Company currently has 27 flower strains, more than 15 varieties of edibles, and 20 different types of concentrate. Issaquah Cannabis Company is excelling in the product department in terms of variety, as well as price. In its first week of operation Issaquah Cannabis Company set its competitive standards, and if its first week of product is any indication of the future it will be hard to beat. For Super Bowl weekend consumers were able to purchase four different strains that were priced at $12/gram, taxes included. According to the store’s general manager, Clifford Gehrett, prices across the board are significantly better than neighboring competition; the shop prides itself on this statistic and has no plans of changing it. Quality and affordability, as well as a diverse product offering? This shop has already earned its place on the map, and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.
Clifford is excited about the future of Issaquah Cannabis Company, as is the Issaquah community. Product strains and inventory will all be adjusted according to consumer demand, which will undoubtedly help keep community involvement and satisfaction optimum. ICC management is sincere, knowledgeable and customer oriented. When these important qualities are paired with excellent products and competitive price points, nothing but success will ensue.
Issaquah Cannabis Company is located at 230 NE Juniper Street, Issaquah. Be sure to stop by Issaquah’s new shop, say “hello” to Clifford, purchase high-quality cannabis and immerse yourself in the city’s new and exciting marijuana culture.
