It seemed set up all too perfectly. Sean Green, was the first business owner in the State of Washington to receive a recreational marijuana license; and Deborah Greene, the 65 year old grandmother who had her 20+ hours of fame, when she stayed overnight to make history as the first person in Seattle to legally purchase marijuana.
Green and Greene. Hmm. And what is one of the most popular characteristics of cannabis. It’s the color green!
Was this just an interesting coincidence or did the Washington State Liquor Control Board put some thought into a PR stunt? Could they really have planned for a man who submitted an application for a marijuana business license with the last name of Green, and planted a grandmother with a last name of Greene, to be a couple of “firsts” in this media crazed industry. Maybe they thought – by doing this – it would catch wind in the media across national circuits.
Technically, calling this a conspiracy is a stretch since it is not exactly ‘evil.’ Unless of course, evil meant crashing the party for every stoner out there, because the State spent more time on a PR stunt when that time could have been better spent elsewhere, like issuing more licenses to growers so we would have weed to buy!
But, maybe this had nothing to do with the Washington State Liquor Control Board. Or maybe the Sean Green part of it had everything to do with the Liquor Control Board, and the Deborah Greene part of it was the mastermind of a local media outlet or reporter.

I know, I know. It’s not a crazy conspiracy. It’s just a crazy coincidence and anyone who believes it must be a fool.
Wait. What was the name of the man who made history as the first person to purchase legal weed in Washington State, just hours before Deborah Green made history with the first Seattle purchase?
Cale Holdsworth.
Yes, Cale was the first person in Washington State history to purchase marijuana at Top Shelf in Bellingham. And while everyone was reading the headlines, we were looking at that name: Cale. No name resembles or sounds like Kale, that popular vegetable, than Cale! Yes, it’s spelled differently but whenever I hear someone go by that name, I think of the vegetable!
And Kale is as “GREEN” as it gets. Just like Marijuana.
Conspiracy!!!
The cat might be out of the bag folks! We can all go to bed tonight and rest a little bit easier…
