A pre-Hempfest rant Seattle recreational marijuana source

Let me get this straight. Last year, organizers of the world’s largest marijuana festival, Hempfest, created a marijuana lounge that was fenced off and out of public view. This allowed people to respectfully ‘duck out’ and take a toke (as if anyone at Hempfest would give a shit).

Now, because of a little tiny section written into the legislation that makes it a class-c felony to provide a place for people to smoke marijuana ‘publicly,’ Hempfest cannot have a lounge where attendees can smoke.

We are the first state in the entire nation to legalize marijuana. Almost 3 years removed from that beautiful day. Yet, we got to resort to smoking in our homes or apartments, shades drawn, hoping that we have the blessings of our landlords or neighbors, hoping they don’t complain.

You know what’s worse? Oregonians, who don’t even have a shop that sells recreational marijuana, are hanging out in legal cannabis cafes right now, having good laughs and good times, smoking marijuana just like they do in Amsterdam.

So…do you know what’s going to happen now that Hempfest was forced to get rid of the smoke lounge? Everyone is going to smoke in public view just like they always have. So much for the legislation. And I guess, so much for this rant.

Enjoy Hempfest everyone! Have a tokin’ good weekend.
