94% of All Public Marijuana Fines Have Not Been Paid High Above Seattle Seattle recreational marijuana source

According to the ‘Public Possession of Marijuana Report’ released by the city of Seattle, only 6% of all marijuana fines issued (during the first six months of this year) have been paid. 88% of weed fines have either defaulted or are pending default.

This is not surprising considering that more than half of the offenders are ‘homeless.’ Paying a marijuana fine is not as pressing as finding a place to sleep for the night.

The report issued by the city will continue for the next year and a half, therefore it’s only 25% complete. Click here to read the report in its’ entirety as released by the city of Seattle.

UPDATE:

News surfaced late yesterday that one Seattle cop is responsible for most of the tickets. With one cop issuing majority of tickets, and half of the recipients of whom are homeless, no wonder why most of the tickets are not paid. this defiantly calls for an investigation.
