After watching the State of the Union address, I’m feeling rather Presidential – so this week’s strain review is Obama Kush made by High Altitude. We picked up a 2 gram sack for $50 ($40 after the “Top Shelf Tuesday discount” – heck yeah) from the marijuana boutique known as Green-Theory.
We’ve sampled and reviewed a different strain (OG Kush) from High Altitude before, and spoilers: it was really spectacular… so spectacular that we were all “wait there’s another kush”?!
High Altitude maintains a minimal internet presence, minimal to non-existant actually. This author could find no official website link, but please correct and link me (in the comments section) if I’m wrong. Websites are important – but are not necessary if the product speaks for itself.
The packaging? It’s clear, so you can see exactly what you are buying. My bud tender at Green-Theory spent a good minute sifting through the gigantic bin full of Obama Kush, carefully choosing the best looking specimen for little ol’ me. “All nug” he said, the guy was a legend – a serious upstanding gentleman, if I ever saw one.
Let’s get to the strain at hand, shall we?
Hybrid THC-9: 1.58% THC-A: 15.1%
Total THC: 16.9%
Obama Kush has a subtle spicy scent accompanied by some funk. Even after grinding it, the smell wasn’t very pronounced – which I don’t mind, I don’t always like to wake the neighbors by simply cracking open a package.
Looking at the bud, it’s a lovely shade of green. The nugs are lightweight, crystalized in keif, and have a smattering of bright red hairs. I was very happy with the product that was personally selected for me.
This author sampled the strain-at-hand through a vaporizer, it tasted like dryer sheets and spice. There were slight variations of funk and skunk and other “unk”‘s – a pleasant experience overall. Obama Kush has an elegant lightness to it in terms of aroma and flavor, it’s a perfect appetizer to any experience.
Equally light and elegant, the feeling from Obama Kush is sublime. Fresh, airy, heady, and euphoric. This is the type of strain that makes you forget what you just did, and will remind you of the first time you got high. Going to a concert, hanging out with friends, relaxing after work – let Obama Kush aid you in whatever it is you’re doing.
The burnout is light, and shouldn’t weigh you down (too much). It’s a “get up and go” sensation, with a perfect balance of body high and head high.
A truly spectacular strain made by High Altitude, and definitely not the first – Obama Kush is the Presidential bud will have you saying “Yes We Can (get high)!”
