Let me clear my throat, and no – I’m not listening to DJ Kool, I’ve actually been smoking Seattle Cough. Produced by Dutch Brothers Farms, we picked up a gram for $52.05 at Seattle-area marijuana boutique, Green-Theory (a must-visit if you are in or near Bellevue).
Dutch Brothers Farms is a producer based within our fair city of Seattle, and it is abundantly clear that they handle their products with love and care (it even says that on the package… twice). The direct URL (www.dutchbrothersfarms.com) leads to a site under construction, but they have a Facebook page where you get in touch (also view a picture of Seattle Cough being grown in July).
From what this author can gather, Dutch Brothers Farms is a mid-sized operation with a serious dedication to marijuana creation. They aim for the highest quality, and judging from Seattle Cough – the sky is the limit for DBF. We’ll be keeping an eye on the official website, and update this article when it’s back online.
So, the packaging is brilliant. I remarked to the budtender Rachel (who was super helpful, and I’m hoping that was her name – I’m terrible with names) that it looked like some sort of Star Wars 1978 action figure, to which she quipped that it would make me feel like an action figure – we laughed.
On the front, we’ve got a nighttime-green-laser-panorama depiction of the Seattle cityscape. Seattle Cough is proudly displayed on a font straight out of power point, but it strangely works with the epic green lasers. “Hand Trimmed with love and care” swaddles the bud bubble, along with “Nitrogen purged to prevent trichome oxidation and preserve freshness”.
Now, on the backside of this package – there is more text then this author has ever seen on a recreational package. Let me be clear this is not a bad thing, this is fantastic. Perhaps the only issue is portability, most packages fit in your pocket (this one cannot). It would take up a fair portion of space to transcribe the text, so we’ll just post the picture – but I would like to put one quote front and center:
“No machine trimming to grind up and damage this cannabis. DBG lovingly hand trimmed and gently placed it in this protective packaging just for you”.
Just for you, cue heart melt.
THC Specifics: Hybrid, averaging 70% sativa Total Potency – 20.79% THC – 19.95%
CBD – .09%
Seattle Cough is nitrogen purged to prevent oxidation, and it preserves wonderfully. The smell when tearing open my Darth Vader figurine bud bubble was a distinctly pronounced grapefruit-pine-cumin-funk. Yes, that’s four things – but it was sharp on the senses, and pretty much like a delicacy.
The look and feel of the buds reminded me of a fragile christmas tree, blanketed in snow. I love a good kief-splosion, and Seattle Cough delivers on that with every pinch. Because the bud is hand trimmed, the nug to leaf ratio is perfect. A splendid presentation to behold, made even better with green lasers!
This author smoked Seattle Cough through a water pipe, and found the taste to have hints of vanilla. The nitrogen purge encapsulates the smell, as well as the flavor – giving you a full bodied experience when sampling. Thumbs up for delicious smoke.
To borrow a word from the back of the package, I would best describe the high from Seattle Cough as “motivational” (made even better by the thought of someone rolling up a doobie of this strain in a van down by the river). Within moments of exhaling, the euphoria came on strong – and continued to peak for the course of over an hour.
I had just gotten off of work, and it was kind of like taking a vacation when I got home. Hitting Seattle Cough sent me to another world – along with bestowing a meditative, focused and creative mindset. The 30% indica really smooths the whole thing out, though. Aches and pain fade away, as euphoria takes hold.
Do whatever you want, whenever you want – with Seattle Cough. I feel like I just channeled Don Draper, but seriously this is how I feel about the strain. If you live in Seattle, if you are visiting Seattle – consider it part of the experience to try Seattle Cough.
We’ll be sure to sample Dutch Brothers Farms products in the near future, and if I ever meet them in real life I will give them a serious handshake (and possibly a hug).
LASERS!
