Marijuana Review: Hawaiian Dutch Treat, Kid Cannabis & Smores w/ a Twist Seattle recreational marijuana source

Just last week we stopped by Cannabis City and waited an hour in long so we could buy and review the latest harvest from Green Apple Industries; then we rented the movie ‘Kid Cannabis‘ which is based on a true story about a high school dropout turned kingpin; and finally, we found a recipe for S’mores but with a twist: peanut butter, just in case we got the munchies. All of this for our first ‘Marijuana, Movie, & Munchies’ Review!

Marijuana Review: Hawaiian Dutch Treat

Since Cannabis City is the only Seattle marijuana retail store that is open, we had no choice but to go there. And since the city is basically going through a ‘pot drought,’ we had only 2 strains of marijuana to choose from, both harvested by the same producer: Green Apple Industries.

The first thing that jumped out at us was the low THC content, which is the compound in marijuana which creates the ‘high’ effect. According to this infographic we created based on our research, anything less than 9% THC is considered low.

We were also a bit surprised when we opened the package to find the cannabis to be really dry shake. Like we mentioned here, we feel like we have been spoiled by the local delivery services such as Winterlife Cooperative and Club Raccoons, because we were used to receiving big round healthy buds with a strong scent and a high THC content.

Here is our assessment and review of Hawaiian Dutch Treat:

Manic: It’s really difficult for me to get past the dry shake, swag like texture and feel, of the flower. I’m not exactly sure if this is due to the growing process or if they wanted to cram as much as possible in these tiny little baggies. The high is mild. Takes a bit longer to hit and doesn’t last long. I found I needed to smoke more from the glass pipe to really feel it. But when you do, it’s a good uplifting feeling. Not great, but good. In regards to the smell, I’m big on the scent and this doesn’t have much of a smell – very faint.

Amber: Hmm. This is all right! It’s low THC, I get that – but maybe this sativa should be used for a nice stroll in the park rather than a night on the town. Here we are sitting in the comforts of a living room and I want to go for a stroll!  Don’t see much wrong with the low THC, per se. Because this was basically the only choice, then yes, there’s a problem – but when the recreational marijuana industry kicks in and there are many choices, then it’s okay, because some people may just want a really mild high.

Justin: I don’t feel anything. Do I feel high? Seriously? Sure I do. But this stuff IS mild and doesn’t last that long. Still, the effect is good. It’s happy, when I feel it  – but that doesn’t last long. Has a good taste, though.

Movie Review: Kid Cannabis

Kid Cannabis is based on a true story of Nate Norman, a high school dropout in Idaho who build a multi-million dollar trafficking ring by transporting marijuana across the Canadian border. We couldn’t pass this movie up while having a toke!

Manic: The story reminds me of the Wolf of Wall Street minus the weed trafficking of course. Not as memorable as Super Bad but has it’s moments. Could have spent more time developing the story and make a couple parts of the movie more clear.

Amber: I was surprised. I thought it would be a dud or just a run of the mill, straight to DVD type of movie but it was entertaining. Makes me want to do some extra reading about Nate Norman and his story.

Justin: Meh. Felt like I have seen this dozens of times before: poor to riches flick. I like the weed part, though.

Munchee Review: Smores with a Twist

Why have a Smores when you can have a Smores with peanut butter? Or maybe not… Check out the Smores recipe here.

Manic: If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Once upon a time, Smores was just fine. Someone apparently felt like we needed to change the times and add a twist of peanut butter. call me old fashioned, but I won’t have peanut butter on my smore’s again. Reminds me of when I had a taco hot dog…hot dog’s were just fine before that.

Amber: Interesting, but in a good way. I thought I initially was going to gag, but this is almost delightful.

Justin: Next time I’m picking out the munchies for the review!
