Update: Here is one of our JuJu Joint Reviews.
Microsoft has been a staple in this city and sponsors our professional soccer team, Amazon has since moved in and provided roughly 25,000 jobs over the years, and smaller outfits like Popcap populate this sea-city landscape. We are known as a hi-tech city and it’s been that way for a while now, ever since the dot com boom. But, with the legalization of marijuana and the official industry around the corner, we are becoming more than just a hi-tech city. Welcome to High Tech City.
Leafly App
Leafly is known as the Yelp for marijuana. It is an online resource and app (iOS, Android) that allows users to find and rate medical marijuana dispensaries, recreational marijuana stores, different strains of cannabis. Leafly is owned by Privateer Holdings which is a private equity firm that invests and acquires other cannabis related companies. For example, they own Tilray, which is a premium brand of medical marijuana which is soon to be available to mmj patients in Canada.
Leafly was founded just 4 years ago and recently won the popular GeekWire Awards as the App of the year. So far, Leafly has been a huge success. But can you imagine when every state in the nation has a medical and recreational marijuana industry? Look out!
Canary
Canary is an upcoming marijuana delivery smartphone app which helps you find the strain of cannabis and the store you desire, any munchies or snacks you might want for later, and helps you to schedule a delivery. Is developed locally by a couple of University of Washington students and is being billed as the “Easiest way to buy cannabis.”
The app is scheduled to be released later this year. In the meantime, go to their website and sign up using your email to stay updated. Who knows, maybe you will get to test a beta version?
JuJu Joints
Marcus Charles, the owner of the Crocodile Cafe and the Co-Owner of the Capitol Hill Block Party, is also the co-founder of JuJu Joints, along with Rick Stevens. JuJu Joints is a cigarette sized vaporizer which is currently being sold at medical marijuana dispensaries and soon to be recreational marijuana stores. The vaporizer is very unassuming and portable, which was one of the ideas behind the concept. Check out their website for more information.
The recreational marijuana industry hasn’t even opened yet and we already have 3 major players in the weed tech sector. Imagine what the future may hold once the ball gets rolling and this industry becomes official? A city known for it’s creativity and ideas may just spark another boom.
